Story behind the song
No one really "got" this one I suppose. An influence for the track was Skinny Puppy's 'Brap: Back & Forth Volumes 3 & 4' (whichever disc was the previously vaulted experimental stuff) - aside from the lucid automatic poeticism of 'Cleanse, Fold & Manipulate' or the radical activist slant and experimental noise of 'VIVIsectVI', it's their best work. Unlike a lot of my other highly influenced material, the track just happened to come together this way. I used a MicroKorg for most all of it, along with whatever noises and sounds I could work into it from my computer. The track title 'Rubeus' comes from some sort of occult symbolism associated with the 5 of Cups in the tarot (also the 1st decan of Scorpio, in which I was born) - it's a very bad omen or something, but I forget the exact details of the superstition.
