Story behind the song
It was inspired by my brother's near death experience on Christmas Eve. The occupant of the extended stay suite next to my brother's shot it out with the police in a six hour stand-off. She was killed. My brother was in the shower when she started shooting. Some bounty hunters came to serve a warrant on her and she shot at both of them. My brother said he had enough time to pull on some pants, a shirt, and a pair of boots. He had to stand outside in the cold for six hours while the stand-off was happening. Lyrics
Die Pretty (Revised) Words by Wendy DuMond (c) December, 2007 Music and Vocals by Letha Allen 1. Lilly says she wants to die pretty So she hitched her a ride to the city Cause surely, there's something there To quell this tragedy of despair Or at least cut to the old, nitty gritty (Chorus) See the wind gets cold When the night grows old And the picture of a young face Looks good on the stone It's just like home You're all alone With your mouth sewn shut there in the ground You don't make a sound... 2. Lilly went and bought herself a gun Said she's goin' out tonight for some fun Maybe she's just bored or there's a guy that she adored Oh but, someone will be gone when she's done (Chorus) See the wind gets cold When the night grows old And the picture of a young face Looks good on the stone It's just like home You're all alone With your mouth sewn shut there in the ground You don't make a sound... (Chorus) See the wind gets cold When the night grows old And the picture of a young face Looks good on the stone It's just like home You're all alone With your mouth seen shut There in the ground You dont hear a sound... 3. People like to see it on the television Some crazy carries his plan to fruition And the battle wages inside her voices calling her a liar The good can't overcome this division (Chorus) See the wind gets cold When the night grows old And the picture of a young face Looks good on the stone It's just like home You're all alone With your mouth sewn shut there in the ground You don't make a sound... Lilly says she wants to die pretty So she hitched her a ride to the city With her gun all a'blazing And not one soul worth saving Now she'll learn the devil has no pity Not even for the ones, who die pretty....
