Soloist. Songwriter/singer. ASCAP member. A NICE WITNESS FOR CHRIST There is an extensive interview of me done by Scott Crawford, at . Do not let the site name alarm you. It is an "adult-themed music and entertainment" site. It is not a porn site, and you will not get tagged for spam if you go there. Scott is a journalist of integrity, who asked pertinent and penetrating questions, then printed my answers verbatim. Both God and His son received much attention in the interview. REVIEWS: "Fancy keyboard playing is the backdrop for this positive and upbeat collection. Hackley's vocals are reminiscent of Burl Ives." Review by Brent Castillo, The Wichita Eagle, March 5, 2005. "world's wimpiest Christian rocker". Brother Russell Podcast; : INFLUENCES (a very lengthy list, ending with...) "and of course, Richard Hackley." "Yet the songs on the Worst of the Worst can be compelling in their awfulness. Songs like Richard Hackley's rabble-rousing, hackles-raising spiritual God's Backhand ("We're not talking about tennis or Ping-Pong!") "; "Richard Hackley... HUGE musical influence. And a real bad mofo live.";

Story behind the song
Taken from Ephesians 2:6. There we learn that some of the things we thought we had to wait for ... we already have.
Lyrics
(v.1) What kind of day would it be like to not have a single fear? To walk in courage, to have no doubts, to always feel secure? Knowing you're safe, knowing you're strong, Knowing you're righteous, knowing you belong.. Well, thank Ephesians for making it clear That day is already here. (c.1) Up here in the heavenlies, there's no room for any fear at all. Up here in the heavenlies, all our thoughts are centered on God's call. The Word can provide all the thoughts for the day If we just keep our mind from wandering away, from Up here in the heavenlies, up where God invited us to stay. (v.2) How many thoughts run through our mind From dawn till setting sun? Somewhere in the thousands, and God tells us "Lead captive every one." We could be thanking, we could be reading, We could be praying, we could be speaking, Keeping our minds lined up with God. It's a full time job. (c.2) Up here in the heavenlies, there's no room for any wasted thought. Up here in the heavenlies, God is asking for everything we've got. The Word can provide all the thoughts for the day If we just keep our mind from wandering away, from Up here in the heavenlies, up where God invited us to stay.
