Life isn't easy. You need to deal with adversity at some point. And it never ends. What matters is how you deal with it.

Artist picture
An adult contemporary band, with influences derived from classic and progressive rock, pop, jazz, and even classical.
"Intermezzo" is what I call "my band" (really just me, some friends who can sing -- because I sure can't -- and some MIDI equipment). It is my vehicle for demonstrating my material. My material is probably best described as yacht rock. I am pleased to announce that I've created a DIstroKid account! You can view my HyperFollow here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/intermezzo1/intermezzo Also, through my DistroKid account, my music is now also available on the following (among others): iTunes/Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/intermezzo/1582282477 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/24Smq4apfS2XM9zVS6qRZB Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09D9CTHFH

Story behind the song
I'm a big fan of Terry Brooks novels. Those of you who are fans of "The Sword of Shannara" series of books might recognize references to "The Warlock Lord" and the "Black Woods." "Rumney" refers to a town mentioned in John Christopher's "The White Mountains." "Overland" is derived from Overland Park, Kansas. I have no idea why I included it, except that it sounded like a cool name for a place in a fantasy novel. (Side note: in a sad, ironic twist, Bob Blanchard, the man you hear singing in this clip, would take his own life a few years later.) Bob Blanchard, vocals Ray Kim, keyboards
Lyrics
THE WARLOCK LORD Words and music by Ray Kim Verse 1: On the long road to Rumney where the Black Woods meet the sea, I met the King of Overland, who gave this advice to me... "A grave danger lies ahead, trouble you cannot forsee... Beware the Warlock Lord, my son, wherever you may be..." Chorus: The battle lines are drawn, the match is joined... Clear and present danger you cannot avoid... Cast your fear aside, and prepare to fight, For the Warlock Lord awaits you in his lair tonight...! Verse 2: "Keep your wits about you when you meet the Warlock Lord... Let experience be your armor; let your mind be your sword... Keep your head held up high as you prepare yourself to defend, For you will face a battle, one which will never end..." Chorus: The battle lines are drawn, the match is joined... Clear and present danger you cannot avoid... Cast your fear aside, and prepare to fight, For the Warlock Lord awaits you in his lair tonight...! Bridge: He anticipates your arrival... He prepares himself to receive... And the key to your survival Is to stand up and fight for what you believe... (Instrumental ad lib) Chorus: The battle lines are drawn, the match is joined... Clear and present danger you cannot avoid... Cast your fear aside, and prepare to fight, For the Warlock Lord awaits you in his lair tonight...! Copyright 1992, Ray Kim
