Youghiogheny River Swells
Six months in the making.
A wide range of musical styles.
This is my band. It consists of me.
Lyrics
Tongue tied, too shy
I never ask, but wonder why
We always find each other at the riverside
Blue eyes, fair hair
But such a sadness lurking there
Beneath the surface of her alabaster skin
Perched upon a rock
Dress blowing in the breeze
Gazing out at a
Vision only she can see
Words are never spoken
I just cast my line in
One glance, real fast
Her eyes are quickly turned downcast
A forced attempt to smile hinted by her mouth
Always, each time
I see her by the riverside
Before I slowly wade in at the water’s edge
She’s staring out at the
Rapids raging ‘round the bend
A looking of longing and
An expression I can’t comprehend
Words are never spoken
I just cast my line in
One day, ‘bout time
Get something biting on the line
Look over my shoulder with time enough to see
Arms stretched, eyes closed
She takes a breath, and then she goes
Plunging into these Youghiogheny River swells
Carried down
The surging, violent run
Without a sound
In the scorching midday sun
