BANTER is a band which combines modern and classic rock sounds in most refreshing ways.
Banter rocked the clubs and airwaves of the Northeast United States from 1996-2004 with a catalog of songs infusing everything from folk and punk and Arabian drones into a unique brand of rock that defies classification (OK, fine, call them alt rock if you must). Their lyrics range from musical paintings of places that have affected their lives (and ours), as found in songs like "The Fort," "Springtime in February" and "Three Weeks," to themes of angst and paranoia as tackled in "Lowered" and "Farewell." Their CDs, which include the highly acclaimed EP and their full-length album , brought the group international attention with reviews in places as remote as Bryansk, Russia and chart success in France. BANTER has performed throughout the Northeast United States from New York to New Hampshire and has championed the New England media from magazines to TV.

Story behind the song
This song was written in response to the Biblical notion that "man has dominion over the Earth." I feel that along with this "dominion" comes some responsibility.
Lyrics
Spring has come as flowers bloom all across the Earth Brings and end to winter's gloom Witness the rebirth Rebirth - Birds return from the southern skies Bears in hibernation start to rise Leaves provide for the trees' disguise Caterpillars into butterflies Man has come to claim his place as ruler of the lands Taking all of nature's ways into his own hands Strong hands - Trees surrender to the axe Species leave never to come back Nature responds to our attack Daytime skies like the night are black Those who are most innocent lead their lives Captified behind a fence - souls denied Here for our experiments they were born to die Humans act with dominance we can't justify Generations of life are born never knowing why Passing slowly like a storm Answered when they die They die - All that lies beneath the sea and sky All are joined by this common tie Desperately we must surely try To heed the message behind the cry
