I'm easily inspired either by personal experiences, things said in conversation, being given a challenge, or being moved or amused by something. Many genres.

Story behind the song
This is a new version of my original song sung by Sarah White. Brian Ralston (aka Selftort) kindly added vocals to make a duet. I've always liked his voice and am very grateful to him for making such a big difference to the song. Brian is a Lawyer/musician in Sydney Australia, and it was lovely to meet up with him personally when we visited the beautiful city in Dec. 06. I was touched when the song was played at the wedding of my eldest daughter for whom it was written. The Mexborough Male Voice Choir also kindly made a recording of their own version which is on my list of songs.
Lyrics
Starting out on the walk of life together now, Everything's so right somehow, Starting out on a journey with a trusted friend, On whom I can depend. 2 Love we know, love we feel So dreams we dare to dream will come true and real, Trust in me, you will see that I will do my part, Now you hold my heart CHORUS Every footstep, every mile, Every mountain to be climbed we will climb together, You mean everything to me, And everything I need is in your smile Cloudy days won’t dismay me now that we are one, ‘Cause you are the sun to me, Winding roads leading on to where we’ve never been, Through wide open dreams. Come what may, we will stay together through the storms, Your shelter is in my arms, Standing strong, we belong together for all time, In body soul and mind. CHORUS Every footstep, every mile, Every mountain to be climbed…we will climb together, You mean everything to me, And everything I need…is in your smile. I’ll sacrifice, pay the price, for wealth beyond compare, As long as you are there, When you’re down, turn around, I’ll gently take your hand, Then you’ll understand. What we have, what we’ve learned will help us well I know, To reach where we both want to go, Strength in you, strength in me to overcome the falls, So we’ll have it all. CHORUS Every footstep, every mile, Every mountain to be climbed…we will climb together, You mean everything to me, And everything I need…is in your smile. CHORUS REPEAT Words/Music © Carol Douglas Sung by Sarah White and Brian Ralston
