Stadium rock
Rat:Daddy exploded onto the scene in the UK in 2001, and rocked around Europe for another 5 years before disbanding and forming their new band Idiot3. Their album Dirty Stars was acclaimed in the underground world of Rock, and sold in large quantitites directly from the now defunct label Changes One. Based in the South of England Rat:Daddy performed alongside some great bands, The Wildhearts and Rachel Stamp, to name just two. Despite finding a great following they often felt targetted by the press as 80's Rock throwbacks, and retreated from this by forming Idiot3. Always melodic and every song loaded with riffs and marvellous big choruses, the band recorded many brilliant tracks that sadly were never to be released. Prolific writers, their music was always appreciated by the fans that would turn out in numbers to see them. Stadium rock that never quite saw a stadium. A real shame, as the under-rated Rat:Daddy could put on a show to end all shows. Listen to some of their music here and imagine the atmosphere of their live gigs. One day we will all look back and wonder why they never became household names.
