Lyrics
Let me tell you now of the origin of man Whose history goes far back and hazy And perhaps when I'm finished you will understand How it ever came to get this crazy Forty million years ago give or take a year or two Lived an ape in the jungle that resembled me and you (but more hairy) He first thought a change of diet might be something really great So scientists call him a prime-ate Ramapithecus used a club on the other pithecies head And when he used that club of bone everyone lay dead With deftly wielded strokes he soon became a simian prince Started a tradition that's flourished ever since Down the line came homo erectus which isnt what it sounds He used to shape the stones that were lying on the ground Stone age man soon became the plan among the anthropod set We were throwing stones at an early age and we aint stopped throwing yet Homo sape just means wise ape, though I think he's overrated Neanderthals came with the ice age reign but very soon they were all outdated We were standing tall, and painting cave walls with graffiti every morning Forty thousand years ago as history was dawning Sapiens Sapiens is modern man we've made it here at last Living today is really ok in fact its a nuclear blast! We've grown so wise, we rule the skies we can live in any old scene The harmless chimp now flies a blimp we're an evolved killing machine
