Doctor Groove, a gospel spoken word artist, is a one-man show specializing in performance poetry which rivets the soul. He is one of the few poets who can work the crowd of a thousand people with no microphone. Some call him the "voice of thunder." He gained his popularity by reciting poetry on subway trains and various platforms in the city of Chicago. He is also an activist and has spoken in every venue imaginable. Two of his mentors were Gwendolyn Brooks and Oscar Brown Jr.

In the middle of a backslide Unable to wait on God for her mate She begins to date May as well get paid for being laid She and he are both being "played" She's chasing his ends (money) While he chases hers (booty) She's impatient looking for love Thus, not living in a way for it to occur She believes in Jesus Christ as her Savior But has strayed from the Word for paper Living a fence-walking, contradictory life Praising the Lord one minute Then saying, "Good morning..." to her man And she's not his wife Her man treats her accordingly Because in a man's eyes His vision of a true Christian Has been destroyed you see He really wants to be As close to sactification as possible But once he sees her misrepresent her faith By making his life style adaptable instead of abomniable Then his money makes her corruptible She brokers her faith instead of remaining untouchable Even her children Wonder why she has become so gullible? Let the story be truly told Why gain the world to lose your soul? You better put your current life on hold And crawl back to God Repent of your sins And do the job that he sent you out to do How can he give you the desires of your heart When you act like your heart does not belong to you? So what? Your lonely Give me a break! You should have cut that relationship out After the first date How can you expect to be rewarded With all of this being recorded People see you go to church But they know what your resembling Eternal life or hell? Does that ring a bell? Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling Time to end the "fun" Come back home, like the Prodical son If your living in the middle of a backslide.... (the second half of this song is a different poem called "Cleaning House")
