Story behind the song

This song wins the "most likely to get stuck in my head and annoy me because I'm blanking on the lyrics" award for August 2007.

The imagery invokes Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow bridge that spans the distance between Olympus and the mortal world.  There could be a full story here, someday.
