an acoustic rock song about searching for a woman from the past. She used to dress like the girl in the Avatar. The song is from my R&R Musical, called "California, A State Of Being." which dates back to 1985 or so.

Story behind the song
Viva, 1972? in Venice, California, a beautiful and probably Polynesian hippie girl was the inspiration behind this song. She was beautiful, intelligent, sensual, a great cook, made all her own clothes, a batik artist as well. She worked as a waitress. "Please leave word at the "Lafayette", refers to Arturo's LaFayette Cafe on the beach, where every hippie, artist, writer, and n'er do well gathered each day for his cheap, and tasty breakfast. His specialty was Heuvos Rancheros. Helas, it became a boutique, long ago. All I can say, is "Mistakes? I have made more than a few."

Lyrics
Viva From Venice
copyright 1985 by Victor Compton
(from California : A State Of Being)
Has anyone seen Viva from Venice?
She used to live on Andalusia.....
in a red house, down a small alley
and I'd like to see her again.
We had some good times and I think she loved me,
But I was too young and cruel to be kind.
I was an arrogant, small time musician
Please tell her I'm sorry for that.
Chorus : I don't have her picture. I don't know her last name.
But, her love has haunted my dreams just the same.
If you should see her, please tell her I care
If I had her address...I'd meet her half-the-way-there.
Has anyone seen Viva from Venice
who spent time at Berkeley, before she lived here
a beautiful woman, perhaps Polynesian
and I'd like to see her again.
Chorus : I don't have her picture. I don't know her last name.
But, her love has haunted my dreams just the same.
If you should see her, please tell her I care
If I had her address...I'd meet her half-the-way-there.
Does anyone know about Viva from Venice?
I think she moved up to San Francisco.
But some people say, she went back to Maui
Please leave word at the Lafayette.
