Hey, this is Mister Chris, I'm the Advancement Chairman for a Scout Troop in the Memphis Area, Troop Ole97. This band has formed to create an album to sell to our Alumni from this 65-year-old troop to support the work of the troop. Those songs that are original works by me I am pumping up here onto SoundClick so that you can listen to them. All other members of the band are Scout Leaders or Eagle Scouts themselves.

Story behind the song
Troop Ole97 began back in 1938, and the Scoutmaster at the time, Robert L Irwin, Jr. was a young man. In 1944, he wrote this song as a marching song for the boys in the Troop, and they sang it everywhere. 'Buddy', as he was called by everyone who knew him, was Scoutmaster until his death in 1990. After his death, this song was lost for a time, until around 1998, when the Committee Chairman gave me a 1977 songbook with the words in it. Now the Troop once again sings the song when they go 'campin and trampin'.
