Just a Lyric writer
Hi I'm Noel and I write poetry, ballads, and lyrics. The songs here are collaborations I've taken part in. I mostly either only write the lyric or collaborate on the lyric but occasionally I will do a melody too. If you are interested in using any of the songs here, please feel free to contact me. I am also looking for songwriters who are interested in my kind of lyrics to collaborate with.

Lyrics
Mary and Ethane copyright Noel Downs/ Vikki Flawith (intro) In the soft gentle spring moonlight, over the mist laden moor, A girl is often seen riding, side saddle alone till the dawn... (v1) Mary was protestant gentry, Ethane a poor catholic lad, Their love a closely kept secret, Hidden from their families' wrath, They planned to flee to America, where they could seek a new life, If they stayed they could never marry and they wanted to be man and wife ...If they stayed they could never marry and they wanted to be man and wife (v2) Mary set out to get them both passage, Ethane would await her return, In darkness on horseback she left him, of her fate he would never learn. that morning he was ploughing long creek flat, when the team was startled by wind, Under twenty-four hooves and a plough shear, Ethane met his sad end. --- Under twenty-four hooves and a plough shear, Ethane met his sad end. (v3) Mary rode cross country to Dublin, to secure their berth on a ship, It's believed that the horse took a tumble and into a bog they both slipped, (This) story is both sad and tragic, and though I have tried my best, I've searched but failed to find Mary, so she may be laid to rest ...I've searched but failed to find Mary, so she may be laid to rest (v4) Ethane is still out there waiting, on clear nights he is seen from the track Leading the six and the plough man, their ghosts still ploughing the flats. You may ask how I know of this tale, how I could know the full sum, I've seen the girl on the moor riding and Ethane was my father's first son ...I've seen the girl on the moor riding and Ethane was my father's first son (outro) ...still, in the soft gentle spring moonlight, over the mist laden moor, A girl is often seen riding, side saddle alone till the dawn...
