I'm trying to use audio in conjunction with tabs I've done to better explain playing traditional fingerstyle guitar.

For re-copying: Originally tabbed in Microsoft Notepad using Courier New 10-Font.
This tab is for the reoccurring banjo lines used throughout the tune. There's quite
a bit of other rhythmic and instrumental things going on and so it's hard to isolate
and tab it perfectly, but this should be pretty close. This tab is made to go with a
soundfile I made where I played my version of these lines as closely as I could to
Buck 65's recorded version. The link to my soundfile (on Sound Click) is...

This tune was played on a standard-tuned five-string banjo (gDGBD). The finger-
picking can be done using only the the thumb and index finger (also using the
middle finger if one is used to picking with it makes it easier still). In the tab
below some notes are shown in parenthesis (like --(0)-- ). This means that the note
is just a "beat note (when shown not next to another note) or is an "incidental" or
optional note that may be played with the other note(s) next to it for a fuller tone
but isn't necessaily required.
The basic structure of the tab (and tune) is two very similar "rounds" in the first
position, then two similar rounds in the fifth position (this position is "alluded to"
more than actually played as the modal-sound of the banjo makes it sound like more of
an... octave-shift... than an actual position change although structurally that's what
it should probably be considered. Structurally A+A+B+B+A is a good way of thinking of
it (or A'+ A²+ B'+ B²+ A² which reflects the slight differences in each "round").
This isn't very complex. There's sort of a "double-beat" in part of the A' round that's a
bit tricky (not that tricky though). It could be played simpler, more like round A². In
the original recording, he didn't have to worry about keeping a strong alternationg rhythm
on his banjo because ot the strength of the drums and other instruments behind him. I
would advise playing this with as many additional beats as your skill-level allows. Also
remember, this tab is just a guide or a tool. Change, ignore or add to it as sounds best
to you as you play the tune.
Anyway, here it is....
