I call it "Under the Rainbow", because Dorothy wanted to leave Kansas by going over the rainbow, but she finally realized that there was no place like home - under the rainbow in Kansas.

Solo Artist, featuring acoustic piano. Can play some guitar but have not recorded anything with it yet. Rock jams and pretty piano music.
I currently play alone. I play piano, organ and guitar. I write my own music and lyrics, and also love to draw. My musical influences range from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Beethoven, Primus to Michael Franks. I love to rock, and like songs with soft intros that lead into heavy jams and instrumental riffs, reminiscent of Stairway to Heaven or Free Bird. I have only recorded a couple of my songs, but I have written a couple dozen and will be adding them soon. I would love to play in a band, or bring some musicians or singers in to jam and sing my material. I was born and raised in Wichita, KS but now live with my wife and three teenage children in Kansas City, MO. I hope you like my music!

Story behind the song
I wanted other people to hear this song and make them want to visit my home town of Wichita, Kansas. I wanted it to be beautiful in lyric and sound. I want them to think about the title - why "Under the Rainbow?" I also like the chord progression, and hope that this song inspires the listener's heart and helps them forget their troubles for ahwhile.
Lyrics
Under the Rainbow - Johnny Colaw All over the world, there's so many places to see. But there's only one, that my heart always longs for. Let me take you there, and show you what beauty can be. Where two rivers meet, and the Keeper guards the grassy shore. Wichita, I love you. Under the rainbow dreams still come true. Your garden parks, the trees so tall. I love the people in Wichita. There's no place like home. Your downtown is dressed, in historic splendor. And so much that's new, like Century II, your Riverfest thrills me. Your skyline is blessed, an easel of nature. A sunset of colors throws its shades on the prairie. Wichita, I love you. Under the rainbow dreams still come true. Your garden parks, the trees so tall. I love the people in Wichita. There's no place like home. With air that's so clean, the stars can shine brightly at night. A ceiling of diamonds, guards the sleep of river city. So I'll make my home in Wichita, Kansas, my friend. Won't you stay there too, be a part of our family? Wichita, I love you. Under the rainbow dreams still come true. Your garden parks, the trees so tall. I love the people in Wichita. There's no place like home.
