Soulfully inspired rockin' country blues
Well, folks, I sure am grateful to the folks at Soundclick for choosing "Monday Afternoon Rain" as the song of the day. I've been a songwriter all my life, but I wrote that song the day after Hurricane Katrina basically blew away my home in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and I tried to make sense of it all. And from tragedy comes wisdom, so I recorded a whole album where I sorted out my life and emotions in song. "Monday Afternoon Rain" is a song that I hope touches you as well. And if you like that one, check out some of my others. My music influences range from Bob Seger to Hank Jr. to Elton John, so the album in corporates many styles while still keeping a country-blues feeling. There's a music video for the song, and it's currently in competition in CMT's Music City Madness Contest, so I hope you'll head over there and vote. It takes two seconds and you can vote as many times as you like. It helps us remind folks that down on the Mississippi Coast, the recovery continues.... Thanks again to Soundclick.com, and all the folks who enjoy this music. http://madness.cmt.com

They Kicked Me Out The Country (But They Can’t Kick The Country Out Of Me) © 2006, Scott Niolet Got busted on the Border Smugglin' a little grass I was haulin' controlled substances When I should have been haulin' ass So they tossed me 'cross the Border Down near Juarez Way But I'm sippin' margaritas And enjoying my extended stay Well, i'm a good ol' boy whose keepin' the faith, but I can't come back, you see They kicked me out the Country Can't kick the Country out of me I've got a senorita Lives in Cancun-Town We swim all day and drink all night Nothin' brings me down I play guitar for money At a local tourist bar And when they shout out "Whiskey River" It's like I ain't that far Now if they bust you at the airport I advise you not to flee They kicked me out the Country Can't kick the Country out of me Nashville might be OK for you But I like it here just fine I've got all the comforts that I need Except my peace of mind Everyone's trying to immigrate to the Land of the Free But way down South of the Border, baby That's where I'd rather be And as long as this old radio still plays A little Hank and Jerry Lee They can kick me out the Country Can't kick the Country out of me Mas cerveza, mas tequila That's allright with me Well, they kicked me out the Country Can't kick the Country out of me
