Paper Cats is a lover's duo. We range through folk and anti-folk to rougher electrified rock and blues; Chris plays guitars--six string, twelve string, classical acoustic, electric, you name it--and Lauren mostly sings. Some of our work is Chris's solo guitar composition, some Lauren's solo ballads, but increasingly our work is collaborative, usually with Chris writing guitar parts and Lauren writing vocal parts. We are enjoying ourselves immensely.

Story behind the song
I found something with my ex's handwriting on it, and the weird feeling of seeing it, something so familiar in years long gone, evoked a torrent of hard memories.
Lyrics
I found a letter, an old letter you sent me You wrote everything about your day, about the rain in the morning and the humid afternoon, but I don't remember afternoons with you. "When will I see you," you wrote me, "I can't wait until you're here. How long will you be away?" But I don't remember where I was and the letter doesn't say You wrote about how much you missed me You wrote all about the pain you felt The cold you caught in the middle of summer and somehow it was my fault, but I don't remember when anything wasn't You wrote to tell me everything all your troubles, all your fears all the days you spent just waiting and how much you needed me near But I don't remember what it felt like to touch you and the letter doesn't say.
