Aarika was born in the rugged, Rocky Mountain city of Kalispell, Montana, where her parents had a small general store and rental cabins on Highway 2, the scenic highway to Glacier National Park. Her family moved to Moscow, Idaho in 1989 and then to the small, neighboring town of Troy two years later. Brought up in a household where both her parents were musicians, Aarika has been singing her entire life. She started out giving her friends backyard concerts, then graduating to her church choir. She loved acting and singing in community theatrical productions and local children's performing groups. Her parents decided to home school their only child, focusing on a music education. In 1994, the family started a gospel trio called Three Strands, singing original and traditional inspirational music, with 14-year-old Aarika as their lead singer, performing for regional events, as well as local television and radio stations. One of Aarika's favorite audiences was the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood, Idaho. Her expressive voice and personable attitude have touched many a heart. Aarika graduated from the University of Idaho as a Theater Arts major, Acting, where she has performed, managed and functioned backstage in full-scale productions of Cabaret, Marriage of Figarro, Romeo and Juliet, Rainmaker and many others.

Lyrics
Verse 1: You wake up lookin’ straight up and you hear somebody say “Take it easy man, the ambulance is on it’s way!” Sizin’ up the situation and all you see is red Lyin’ in the road, someone’s cradlin’ your head Well, at least you know you’re livin’, There’s one last chance you’re given, But there’s always a little Hell to pay... Chorus: Yeah, there’s always a little Hell to pay Could comin’ back alive or goin’ DOA Fate engraves an invitation While you’re coughin’ up salvation Maybe prayin’ for a loan today ‘Cause there’s always a little Hell to pay Verse 2: Feel like dyin’ where you’re lyin’ but you wanna be OK Tryin’ to catch your breath but it just keeps runnin’ away Got the siren’s fadin’ in while your mind is fadin’ out Pain is risin’ higher and leavin’ you no doubt You’re still alive if you’re still feelin’ Might be a long time healin’ But there’s always a little Hell to pay... [To Chorus] Bridge: Well, you might owe small or you might owe big Everyone owes somethin’, you just gotta dig Could be goin’ to Heaven or knowin’ where you can go You won’t be carin’ once that morphine starts to flow... And flow... [To Chorus] Tag: ‘Cause there’s always a little Hell to pay Yeah there’s always a little... Just a little... Hell to pay...
