rock ballads about living in the south
This is a collection of songs grouped by theme more than by style - my impressions of living in the deep south, still with the legacy of the Civil War.

Story behind the song
When I lived in Tallahassee, Fla. they would reinact the Battle of Natural Bridge every year - a Civil War battle. This is one of 3 songs I wrote about this.
Lyrics
Blue jays squabble in the distance Gray squirrels scramble on the limbs of their trees It was a blue day On the red clay For the Blue and gray Fences still standing - they don't forget Lighthouse waits for the fog to lift on the coast Sherman burned Georgia, we learned The tide's been turned Twenty-five hundred waiting for orders Distant cloud coming cross the border from Virginia And the next day Is a blue day For the men in gray
