Sometimes you just need a Father. I mean, a real one.
Not exactly Christian Rock, not exactly Gospel, not exactly Folk, not exactly Rock and Roll, not exactly Blues.
Story behind the song
I was bummed back in '92 because members of the Christian "fam-damily" gave me a "shunning". I wrote this song, in an attempt to minister to myself. Then, they got even meaner, so I wrote another one! Be nice to me, or I'll write a song about you.

When I stumble in sin; when my brother becomes my accuser,
Will You Father me? Can I live with You?
When kindnesses end; when they write me off as a loser,
Will You Father me? Can I live with You?
CHO: Will You take me in? Will You tell me one more time
How You love me when I rhyme; how You love me for no reason?
Will You take me in when they say "I told you so";
When they order me to go,
When trust gives way to treason?
Will You Father me? Can I live with You?
When apologies flow and they will not receive what I'm saying,
Will You Father me? Can I live with You?
When their answer is "no"; when it looks like I'll never stop paying,
Will You Father me? Can I live with You?
CHO: Will You take me in? Will You tell me one more time
How You love me when I rhyme, How You love me for no reason?
Will You take me in when they say "I told you so";
When they order me to go,
When trust gives way to treason?
Will You Father me? Will You Father me? Will You Father me?
Can I live with You?
