Do It Yourself Alternative
Since receiving his first guitar at age 12 (a 1965 Silvertone) Ryan has been writing and playing music for his personal enjoyment for more than 30 years. After years of putting his music on assorted cassettes (and a 8 year layoff to take care of career and kids) Ryan put Pro Tools on an old computer in the back bedroom and began writing, playing and recording music again. It's a life-long hobby for him. Ryan plays guitar, bass and keyboards and uses a drum machine for the beats.

Story behind the song
This song was written in 1984 just as I was entering college. You can hear the angst of a young person trying to get his footing in the world. The recording comes from around 1990 and was done on an old Fostex 4 track machine with a cheesy pre-programmed Yamaha drum machine. Still, I like the song and wanted to share.
Lyrics
It's such a mystery, the things that used to be have flashed like lightning in a storm. All there was to see, exists in a dream I had light years long ago. Long ago. It's such a mystery, has time ceased to be? Or is this limbo? I don't know. Life is just a plan; and a one-night stand that we've forsaken like the snow. I don't know. Skating across the river. Swimming in the woods. This is nothing, beyond me. Singing in an ocean. Crawling in the rain. It's such a mystery. Mystery.
