Lyrics
Nobody told me life would be easy,
no-one said it would be fair.
Sometimes the world seems to be closing in on me,
way more than my share.
I get downhearted and pity myself,
thinkin’ “How much worse could it be?”
Then I recall how God’s Son gave His all for me
Lord, its good to be free
When I was younger I had a hunger
to fight for my country, my home.
My life went a different way, I’ve no regrets
but it changed the road I was on.
I never soldiered but I know of many
who die fighting for me.
Proudly I ask you, “What greater gift could there be?”
Lord, its good to be free
They bought my freedom to live in this land
Christ bought my freedom from all of my sins
I’ve been rewarded with life ever after
and peace that I don’t deserve.
Every day should be good day, thanks be to Jesus
and all those who serve.
Whenever my happiness turns into anguish
and thankless is all I can be,
I try to remember the sacrifice given for me
Lord, its good to be free
