Not quite my vision for the song...but it's a live recording, and right now it's the best I have. My mom did okay on the violin, the pianist...well, she tried. :-)

An aspiring composer, Marie Baringer completed her Master's degree in Music Composition in 2008, which finished up with an internship at a well-known film composer's studio in L.A. She received the 2008 ASCAP Henry Mancini Scholarship to help fund the final semester. Her work is refined and spirited, and you will enjoy listening to it. Although mainly a vocalist, Marie plays trumpet as a hobby. However, her ambitions, although once directed towards the stage, are aimed towards composing music for the silver screen. She began seriously composing during the summer of 2004 when she was asked to create the musical score for her family's short film "The Patriot Deception," which was selected as a finalist at the 2005 Telly Awards for Use of Music. Since then, she has composed several additional pieces in her spare time that she hopes to get published someday. Join us as we interview this talented young lady...

Story behind the song
My first year of grad school. It didn't go quite as I had hoped...and I reacted poorly to a lot of things.
Lyrics
When I kept myself so silent, I thought I was doing right. I kept my ugly anger Hidden far away, out of sight. I didn't want to show them a Christian Who does nothing but complain, But your words, which burned within my heart, Unspoken, caused such pain. Let me always burn for you; Always burn only for you. Let my heart burn with passion, Speaking your words, Not with pain, holding them in. I only want to please you, Lord, I want to shine your Light. May my actions be such I can speak without fear, And on your name, I'll cast no blight. Going to a brand new place, I wanted to be so brave. But in that place, I was all alone, And they offered the friendship I craved. I never did deny you, But I never claimed your name, And when they sat and mocked you, At my silence, I burned with shame. Time went on, and still they jeered. And still I cried in my heart. But soon they dried, those hidden tears, And anger began to start. I wanted to say so many things, But it wouldn't have been too kind. So I shut my mouth and simply glared Until I could find: A better way to burn for you; A better way to make them yearn for you. A better way to open up their eyes To the joy that lies inside. I only want to please you, Lord, I want to shine your Light. May my actions be such I can speak without fear, And on your name, I'll cast no blight. Please help me, Lord, to do your will; I'm far too weak without you. Give me strength to fight, and the courage to speak, And the wisdom to know when I should! May my strength only come from you, My joy from up above. May I not accept the wisdom of this world In a desperate search for love. Let me always burn for you; Always burn only for you. Let my heart burn with passion Speaking you words, Not with pain, holding them in. I want to make them burn for you, Always burn only for you. May their hearts burn with passion Hearing your words, Not with pain, sinking in sin. I want to be your witness, Lord, I want them to see you in me May my words speak clear and my actions follow through; May I better burn for you!
