Story behind the song
This is one that we thought was going to be Traditional Country - but this style just kept coming up when putting the melody together so this is what we went with.
Lyrics
I Didn't See It Coming I found you’re on the table And your keys hung by the door You said you'd found another You couldn't love here anymore I started asking questions But I was talking to the walls The words came bouncing back at me And then they echoed down the hall Chorus Oh I didn't see it coming It took me by surprise Hit me like a fastball Right between the eyes I don't know how I missed it The evidence was plain I didn't see it coming But I sure do feel the pain Verse I should have paid attention To those little telltale signs When I had to work late You never seemed to mind It blew in like a whirlwind From a raging Texas sky I didn't see it coming It was covered up with lies Repeat Chorus Bridge Everything is clear now All the pieces have been tied When you said you loved me It turns out that you lied Repeat Chorus Tag I didn’t see it coming No I didn’t see it coming It hit me like a fastball Right between the eyes I didn’t see it coming Music out © Roy Harris/Charles Kirkland 2007
