Story behind the song
This is a song I wrote 2 years ago, when I first started out. It's about the wrestling around whether a guy and girl can really be close friends. Maybe they can, maybe they can't... but somewhere along the way, there is always the question of whether or not it can become more. Can you share all the stories and talk that much and not wrestle with the decision to go for love or to preserve the friendship?
Note: I've lost the chords to the song. :(
Lyrics
Ides of March and I'm picking up the phone
it's that time of year, and I'm on my way home
Somewhere along the way it turns to girls and guys
Swapping matters of the heart, all the things we tried.
That's the reason why, I can't call more than I do
Cuz I have to fight off, the thoughts of me and you
So, I stay away and keep my space
I try not to hear your voice or see your face
Flying to high to be safe
I've overdosed on you
Springtime chills, maybe it's true that what they say
Being close friends like this is a dangerous game to play.
Guard my heart cuz I'm not like the guys you choose
and wrestling with the fact, the're so many ways to lose
I don't wanna be a guy fishing for a sign
I can't just decide if I want to cross that line
So I turn away don't take chance
I couldn't pray that prayer or dance that dance
Funny car take me away
I've overdosed on you.
It's your special day and I'm picking up the phone
it's that time of year, and I'm on my way home
Asking with some deja vu, is there anything new I should know
since we talked six months ago?
It starts all over again, just like six months ago.
