Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Those Old Calendars Dad Wrote On © by: Verne Garrison; Valley Park, MO 05-22-05 (E) Those old calendars Dad wrote (A) on... About the weather, and things going (B) on Gone all day, to help Uncle (E)Gene Or just to visit a neighbor he hadn't (E) seen Cold dry wind, and twelve (A) below December 20 shortest day of the (E) year Florence working late, have to drive in heavy (B) snow Kids all growed up, wish they were (E) here Like the song I sang when I was (A) young Just old and in the (E) way His notes and rhymes lay here (B) unsung But now I am putting them into (E) play Those notes and rhymes the calendars(A)hold Are my link to past-gone (E) days My lips begin to quiver, tho no longer (B) cold I’m certain that Dad wrote them to (E) play
