Fremont John plays Taylor acoustic guitars. Check out his CDs Timeline, Acoustic Thunder and Lightning Strikes the Bull. For fans of ,
A strong, versatile voice (think Jonny Lang or, Rob Thomas) and very clean, melodic guitar style (think acoustic Santana meets Craig Chaquico ) are Fremont's magic . Whether an original work or a cover song, John makes it his own. His style and killer sound make him a standout in a crowded field.

Story behind the song
THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG TIDAL WAVE By Fremont John Ashton I grabbed my guitar one sunny afternoon and threw it into the car. I left Key West and drove about 10 miles to Boca Chica Key to the beach there. The county leaves this beach pretty much alone and so it’s a very natural beach along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s way out of the way and gets very little use. You have the ocean on one side and a road and then a large area of mangrove swamp on the other side. I had had this guitar lick I’d been messing around with for months. And I was picking it out again as I just sat there looking away from the ocean and toward the mangroves. I started getting the idea for the story of the song. The first line was easy. “Out in the mangroves on Boca Chica, down by the ocean in the Florida Keys,” I just imagined this old medicine man kind of guy out there living in his shack brewing up his potion for the good of all people everywhere. I started to build a story around that. I got the first verse written but, it came hard after that. I just didn’t understand where the story was going. I would write verse after verse after verse and nothing seemed to work. Finally, one day I got it. The path to wisdom and enlightenment, according to virtually all the masters, lies inside. It came to me one day and I knew that’s what the song was about. “Go inside……..” It took me about 40 attempts at the lyrics and over 2-1/2 years before I finally got it right. I’d try, I’d fail, I’d leave it alone and I would come back. My sister reminds me of “No wine before it’s time.” The same holds true for good songs too.
Lyrics
VERSE 1 Out in the mangroves… on Boca Chica Down by the ocean in the Florida Keys I met a stranger from… Santo Domingo. He had a potion sure to cure every disease. I drank his potion and I began to feel Like a fish that’s hooked with a line and reel. I lost control. It was like a wild ride On a Tidal Wave rising toward the sky. CHORUS Tidal Wave, Tidal Wave Tidal Wave Tidal Wave, Tidal Wave It was a Tidal Wave of Love. VERSE 2 What kind of voodoo was it…this freaky potion? It scared me senseless but it made me see. Inside my head there was a big explosion. I saw the whitest light … my epiphany. Right before my eyes my whole life was displayed. The chances wasted, the choices I made. I went to Hell and back atop that Tidal Wave ‘Til I confronted the fears that held me slave. CHORUS Tidal Wave, Tidal Wave Tidal Wave Tidal Wave, Tidal Wave I felt a Tidal Wave of Love. GUITAR SOLO (over the bridge bass line) BRIDGE (spoken) The shaman’s brew made me see with altered eyes. I heard a voice that said, “It’s time for you to realize The answers that you seek are there for you to find. Just close your eyes and take a look inside.” The sound of mounting, pounding waves upon the tide Whispered softly “Go inside.” The sound of mounting, pounding waves upon the tide Whispered softly “Go inside.” OUTTRO Go inside and feel the wave wash over you. Go inside. It’s the only thing to do. Go inside. Free that inner slave. Let Love flood your heart… like a Tidal Wave. CHORUS 2X
