Story behind the song
She was beautiful, so beautiful with eyes so big and brown. She stayed up all night to greet the day, but the day pushed her around. She bought a canvas house when she moved out to live on her own. She painted poetry and mystery and a thousand words unknown. "Hey Mr. Sandman, turn the hourglass around for me, 'Cause I'm not sleepy as I gaze through the eyes eternity. Hey Mr. Sandman." She was boiling noodles when she heard the telephone ringing in her ears, She picked it up and heard the Grim Reaper's words; she had two months left to live, She juggled memories and shattered dreams like a clown on his first day, She thought she'd find a church where she could work off the wages of her sins. She said "Hey Mr. Sandman, turn the hourglass around for me, 'Cause I'm not sleepy as I gaze through the eyes eternity. Hey Mr. Sandman." She looked to the skies with tears in her eyes as they crumbled and fell to the ground. But she welcomed demise as she closed her eyes and danced in the arms of Christ. "Hey Mr. Sandman, just leave the hourglass still My eyes are heavy and I seem to have woken into a dream. Hey Mr. Sandman."
