Lyrics
True and Loyal Friend by Noel Downsƒn„¶ copyright Down there in the stockyards, Is a greying aged old bay, He is quite a gentle fellow, And he has a quiet and friendly way, He was once my one and only mount, That was in our younger years, Back when I was starting out, A time of blood and sweat and tears, We rounded up the wild stock, That roamed free up in the breaks, Each day we worked from dawn to dusk, He had the heart it takes, With his help I built a homestead, We made our mark upon the land, He helped me each and every day, He was my only helping hand, I used him when I sowed the seeds, It wasn't often that I rode, He pulled both the mower and the rake, And often more heavy loads, There grew a bond between us, He is a true and loyal friend, Never will he want for care, For I will care until his end.
