Lyrics
Mother's lot
by Noel Downs copyright 10 Dec 2000
There is a special type of person,
To compare there is no other.
Who's duties last until their death,
Yes, I am talking of a mother.
Her children come first always,
From their first day in the cot.
Not paid her time nor worth,
Because that's a mother's lot.
It doesn't matter what they've done,
How much they've made her weep,
A mother will rock her children,
As they cry themselves to sleep.
They will always be forgiven,
For tempers that run hot,
No matter how they hurt her,
Because that's a mother's lot.
It's a mother's lot to worry,
And to fix up every hurt.
It's a mother's lot pick up,
And to wipe off all the dirt.
A mother's lot is loneliness,
As her children move away.
A mother's lot is longing,
For words we rarely say.
Should one pass before her,
A part of her dies too.
It shows in her every moment,
As she does what she must do.
She will morn the loss forever,
Though it seems she has forgot,
But they are forever in her heart,
Because that's a mother's lot.
For unconditional love,
She is the only one.
All she ever wants to hear,
Is, "I love you Mum"!
