Dear Mum, By Noel Downs Copyright 8 February 2003 Dear Mum I pray this letter, Is one you’ve been waiting for, It’s been so long since I written, And too long since I’ve called! Did I ever say how much I love you? Or how much you really mean to me? I wished I’d made you prouder, But some things can never be. You were right age brings wisdom, You were right about true friends. I know I should have listened, I thought I knew it all back then. I know why you were upset, When I thought I was acting cool, I sorry I called you foolish, When it was me who was the fool. I didn’t deserve forgiveness, But you forgave me anyway. I was never the most lovable, But you loved me all the same! I’m sorry for the embarrassment, I didn’t mean to cause you pain. I know you taught me better, That was why I ran away. Your teaching wasn’t wasted. I can survive now on my own. Thank you for your patience, P.S. Mum I’m coming home!
