Lyrics
Trigger Happy Rural Rednecks
by Noel Downs ã copyright (7 May 99)
I bought myself a country place,
Teaming with wild life,
Away from all the city din,
Away from all the city strife,
Things were great for a week or two,
Then all hell broke loose,
From the size and sound of the rifles,
They were after elephants and moose,
A roar of souped up engine,
Some kind of battle ute,
Enough lights to light a city,
And then they began to shoot,
The dog she started barking,
The horses went besrk,
A bunch of rural rednecks,
A trigger happy bunch of jerks,
The rooster didn't crow next morning,
I found it short it's head,
So I questioned the rural rednecks,
On why my bird was dead,
an one said
Jeez mate it were an accident,
I don't know what to say,
We weren't aiming for your rooster,
It must of been a ricochet,
I hung a sign that said No Shooting,
To reassure the wife and kids,
But it didn't last the first night,
Before it was looking like a sieve,
The dog came in a yelping,
Sporting a bullet burn,
So I questioned the rural rednecks,
To see what I could learn,
an one said
Jeez mate it were an accident,
Didn't mean to shoot your dog,
We hunting roos and wombats,
When she sprung from behind a log,
We gotta kill all roos and wombats,
Else we'll be over run,
They breed so fast there'll be no grass,
Besides its lots of fun,
Now I said, I'm an easy going fella,
An I don't care what you do,
But when it comes to shooting,
Oughter be a law for the likes of you,
Trigger happy rural redneck said,
It's my right to own a gun,
Trigger happy rural redneck said,
We're just out having fun,
Though I was loathe to do it,
I did what must be done,
I like my peace and quite,
So I went and bought a gun,
I went out for some practice,
Well away from home,
Shot up all kinds of things,
That were standing all alone,
Then came the rural rednecks,
To see what I had done,
They didn't look to happy,
But I fought the urge to run,
An I said,
Jeez mate it were an accident,
Didn't mean to kill your ute,
I was aiming at some tin cans,
Trying to learn to shoot,
Crikey look at all them bullet holes,
I don't know what to say,
My gun is fully automatic,
Just squeeze and let em spray,
An one said
We're easy going fellas,
An we don't care what you do,
But when it comes to shooting,
Oughter be a law for the likes of you,
I said to trigger happy rural rednecks,
It's my right to own a gun,
I said to trigger happy rural rednecks,
I'm just out having fun,
Now I don't believe in owning guns,
But now I do I know for sure,
Trigger happy rural rednecks,
Don't bother me no more.
