Chehalis was conceived in 1978 and has existed in numerous forms and configurations. It's concept is similar to the early King Crimson, in which Robert Fripp was the only constant member of the group. The various incarnations of King Crimson changed personnel over the years, but Fripp was the central figure in it's evolution. Guitarist Greg West is the founder of Chehalis and envisioned it to be a musical chameleon. Although Greg has primarily performed and recorded as a solo artist, Chehalis became the vehicle for non-guitar related projects and ensemble compositions. Chehalis originally began performing progressive rock music, but in it's various evolutions it has been an acoustic ensemble, a progressive folk group, and a test bed for electronic music projects. The band's most recent lineup consisted of Greg West and his oldest son, Christopher. Greg has since moved on from this project to pursue other musical avenues. Christopher West is now the chief contributor to Chehalis.

Story behind the song
This song was originally performed as a progressive folk tune back in the 90s. It featured Greg West on Guitar and Pat Mundy on Tabla. More than a decade later we decided to revisit this tune and give a the little extra something in the process.
Lyrics
Waiting for a Rainbow You see the pictures flashing on the screen The words familiar, don’t know what they mean Their lips are moving, but the words unclear Go through the motions try to calm the fear You read the headlines and you sense the rage You’d like to change things but you turn to the next page Waiting for a rainbow Waiting here so long Haven’t seen one for some time I wonder where they’ve gone Marking time uneasily Running where you can Seeking for some holy place Somewhere safe to stand Bearing arms in bondage Fighting for the good Seems that’s what they called it then Once you understood The deep frustration and the fleeting joy As selfish children fight and struggle for their toys Waiting for a rainbow Waiting here so long Haven’t seen one for some time I wonder where they’ve gone Waiting for a rainbow Watching for the sign Walking in a wilderness Waiting for the time The war is raging in the minds of men They ask the question “Are we near the end?” The sky is burning and the stars don’t shine So change the channel now and slowly close the blinds Waiting for a rainbow Waiting here so long Haven’t seen one for some time I wonder where they’ve gone Waiting for a rainbow Watching for the sign Wandering in a wilderness Waiting for the time For the time
