Lyrics
Hungry for a change
I’m so hungry for a change, this monotony’s the same
I ‘m starving, because my refridgerator is in chains
Monopolies keep playing games
It’s making us insane, dreams of gain leave us so drained
Selling hope like cocaine in a desert looking for rain
Peasants becoming deranged, we kill to ease the pain
We bereave so many names
I will leave B-more estranged
If my people just harnessed a grain
Of faith, then he would seek us
That single rock of sand could turn into infinite beaches
I want to explore further reaches
Leave this ghetto ass existence
An emaciated rebel leading a binging resistance Thugs are anorexic, hood rats hold their stomachs
The church is obese as they let the streets plummet
You see, they reached their summit
Just waiting on the trumpet summons
While our people are on the street druggin or bummin
Naw get up off your fat religious behinds
And help win some souls
Cause even in the summer my city still feels cold
We have to be tenacious; yo we gotta to be bold
We have to fight beyond this world
To break the devils hold
I’m sick of our murder rate climbing like the pop charts
I’m sick of guns stopping these y o u n g b l a ck h e a r t s
I’m sick of our own people tearing us apart
Divide and Conq, from nappy to Konk
This is no where near what our ancestors taught
I’m so tired of living check to check
I’m so tired of this monkey on my back called debt
I’m so tired of robbing Peter being so stressed
I ‘m so tired because I aint payed that nigga P a u l yet Left with so much passion in my gut
A yearning in my belly, I lust for better luck
I bust sometimes to ease the pain, this life can really suck
I cuss and relieve the strain, but I really, need a touch
Some up above love will keep me through this rut
The world is a brothel, and we’ve a l l become the sluts
Dust has collected on our drive; we have taken such a dive
Into the pool of complacency, we’re listless and alive
Apathetic and pathetic, excellence, can’t dread it
Less then being great in us has been embedded
Look at the road where we are headed
The system is raping you, and you just stand around and let it
Yo we a l l caught up on sport and play, we can do more than dance, dunk, and sing
Got a Benz in the hood and don’t own a d a m n thing
Black women are devoid of a ring, but got plenty of kids
Black men want the bitches and bling, or they doing a bid
This is no way to live, please help us lord
Put down the guns and pick up our verbal swords
Wars are constantly raging, built on fear and l I E S
We’ll start to get the upper hand, when we see pass these naked eyes
My eyes are sunken in, I’m unnourished and weak
My ribs are showing and I’m too famished to weep
The damage is deep, the lavish feast I seek
When I do ingest this dinner I will regurgitate what I eat
To feed those who do desire, that perpetual fire
That burns, I yearn to give fuel to what is dire
The need to want more for myself will never ever tire
Be a kingpin of knowledge, that weight will take us higher
Unfed on wisdom of who I am, I long for a meal
I devour this spiritual meat until G o d says I’m filled
I just want to evolve, I’m eager for an advance
My purpose is my resolve, born with an equal chance
Enhance this fragile body, food won’t stay ingrained
So I have to be relentless, WE have to be relentless
I’m hungry for a change.
