Poem, 'Don't You Quit' on church bulletin one Sunday was very good. I changed a few sentences and wrote a chorus and made it a song. Author is anonymous as so many good works are.

Lyrics
DON’T YOU QUIT
When things go wrong and they will
The road you’re trudging seems uphill
Funds are low, debts are high
You want to smile but you have to sigh
Life’s strange twists and turns
Each one of us has to learn
Many a failure would turn about
You might have won had you stuck it out
Chorus:
Rest if you must but don’t quit
Stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
When things seem worst is when you mustn’t quit
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell, no you never can tell
Just how close you are
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man
The struggler now has given up
He might have captured the victor’s cup
He learned too late when the night slipped down
How close he was to the golden crown
Golden crown
That shiny golden crown
Chorus
You feel like you lost your heaven
It feels like hell
But you never can tell
Just how close you are
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with one more blow
One more mighty blow
Chorus
Hey man, hey man…..don’t you quit
