Wonderin' Why (Revised)
Comment Share
Hearing Springsteen's Thunder Road in the early eighties inspired me to pick up the guitar ("...and I learned how to make it talk"). Simultaneously, having grown up on country music, I was influenced by the artists and songwriters coming out of Nashville. I began writing songs almost immediately with the goal of having the same emotional impact on listeners that my favorite songs always have on me. It's a never ending quest, I haven't written my best song yet.

Lyrics
Wonderin' Why (Revised) (verse) I grew up in an A-frame in the valley She lived about a half a mile away The school bus picked her up a couple minutes after me She sat across the aisle every day She was just a tomboy, playin' ball, startin' fights But that all changed when I saw her last night. (chorus) Wonderin' why she looked so beautiful In those faded jeans she wore 'Cause she'd walked right by me wearin' them A dozen times before Higher heels or different lipstick? Somethin' caught my eye And my heart is so confused and wonderin' why (verse) She moved away right after graduation I'd think about her every now and then She'd stop in for a while when she came to see her folks It never felt like we were more than friends She kissed my cheek when she was leaving yesterday And I wished I hadn't let her drive away. (repeat chorus) (bridge) Now I'm thinkin' 'bout her smile How she laughs, how she walks Gonna hafta sit us down And have a little talk (repeat chorus)
