My soul was crying out for something original and different when Robert Plant's Mighty ReArranger came around. A perfect blending of genres, part middle eastern, part retro americana - the tonalities meshing perfectly.
Inspired by the musicality of Plant's album came this tune - blues rock, but with a different rhythmic feel; with homespun lyrics of a guy rejecting the so-called love being offered to him.
Lyrics
Many times I've been down this road before
from where I stand there's only trouble up ahead
you keep on talking
I just can't hear what you say
it doesn't matter,
we're drifting apart anyway
whatever the game is
you can't force me to play
so spare me your speeches I'm tired of your lies
I've made my decision I'm ready to tell you goodbye
Many times
I've laid my heart down on the line
from where I stand
it was a waste of precious time
You liked the thought
of being in love with me
you never loved me
it's totally plain to see
You tried to change me
to something I know I can't be
if you really cared, you'd love me for me
since you don't baby, it's time to tell you goodbye
so goodbye my love
no reason to hang around
chalk it up to experience
think what you will
you can say what you want about me
('cause talk is cheap)
many times
I've waited on your love
If I were to stay
I'd be waiting on it still
I've come to my senses
I'm not going to take any more
you had enough chances
to keep me from going out that door
I wanted a lover
not someone to make over me
I am what I am and that's good 'nuff for me
that don't work for you then all I can say is goodbye
Love the feel and groove of this
I love the line
From where I stand
It's just a waste of precious time....awesome lyrics and your vocal styling really has attitude like your singing right to the person the song is about
Nice guitar
