Hearing Springsteen's Thunder Road in the early eighties inspired me to pick up the guitar ("...and I learned how to make it talk"). Simultaneously, having grown up on country music, I was influenced by the artists and songwriters coming out of Nashville. I began writing songs almost immediately with the goal of having the same emotional impact on listeners that my favorite songs always have on me. It's a never ending quest, I haven't written my best song yet.

Lyrics
Back Creek VERSE 1 Sherando’s just a small town in the Shenandoah Valley That’s where my Daddy’s family is from Every summer we’d pack up and drive 350 miles To taste the country around his childhood home PRE-CHORUS We would spend two weeks In the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains And I would spend most all of my free time CHORUS Down on Back Creek with my fishin’ pole in hand Steppin’ barefoot across the slippery rocks and sand I can still hear Grandma callin’ me for dinner Smell the chicken on the stove We would sit on the porch in the evening And watch the sun go ... Down on Back Creek Down on Back Creek VERSE 2 Twenty years have gone by since Grandpa passed away Granda got to see my two kids born I remember the last night I spent on her old couch Thinkin’ about where all ther time had gone PRE-CHORUS When I think back On what those summers meant to me I know I can close my eyes and be ... (REPEAT CHORUS) I can still hear Grandma callin’ me to dinner Smell the chicken on the stove We would sit on the porch in the evening And watch the sun go ...
