This is a song about the ship , The Mary Celeste whose crew mysteriously vanished while sailing the ocean.
Indie Rock from Vermont.
We're an indie rock trio from Burlington Vermont. Our influences come from many different areas of music. We'll add more info later.
Story behind the song
Eric wanted to write music interpreting the events happening to the mary celeste. Jeff wrote the lyrics, but was originally for another song, so the lyrics are kind of about a different thing, but can be interpreted to fit the song. Just listen to it.
Lyrics
Life In Dark Water - Written by Jeff Foran
It’s the saddest of nights when you can’t even see the stars.
This would all pass, but she knew her time had come
as she looked out through the doorway and at the glass.
No reflection in the mirror as she passed down the empty halls.
It’s a curse as she sweeps through the cobwebs and ashes
She sings a song of despair with nothing left inside
She falls down this endless pit and makes my stomach turn.
And as my eyes are locked in front of me
I can't move them away the feeling inside.
It isn’t something I like to know -
Tumbling my way down, I’m dragged along
When we hit the blackened water we’ll
Descend to the bottom, holding our breath
Until we catch on fire only to return to the top
I hear the worm’s beneath me as she lay’s in the mud.
She knows where the wild things are in my mind I see
That the only way out of here through the dungeons and sewers
Of this lonely house is to scream at the top of my lungs.
But there will be nobody to hear the shriek
No one is there, not even myself
It’s only in my dreams that I see someone so far off
Hearing thing’s that no one else hears.
