Story behind the song
Met a girl and wrote the first and third verse. Came back to it a year later and worked on it some more. During the process, I began to realize that it was not written about a girl, but to Destiny herself. Then it all began to make sense. How do we convince Destiny to look our way and smile on us?
Lyrics
You walked alone into a crowded room Lit up the sky just like a summer moon Then you turned around and walked away from me I felt the wind brush across my face I heard a voice from somewhere out in space Someone was calling to me It had the sound of destiny You turned around, you looked at me and said I see the golden lights around your head Won’t you help me understand the mystery I touched your face, looked into your eyes I saw a star fall out of the sky Something is happening to me It has the touch of destiny Won’t you help me girl Won’t you help me baby You see me down upon my knees Give me a sign that will ease my mind You gotta love me baby, cause I am the lock you hold the key I was travelin in a distant place Turned up missing, lost without a trace Laid my body down by the wisdom tree Heard the voices so I came in here Felt the rush of some unspoken fear Somethin is calling to me It has the voice of destiny Won’t you help me girl Won’t you help me baby Show just a little sympathy Tear down the veil let my soul be free You gotta love me baby, cause I am the lock you hold the key
