contemporary gospel southern gospel
My name is Dawn Loewen and my husband, Kent have two children who keep our house hopping from morning till night! Kent farms and I was a teacher before we had our children. My dad led me to Jesus when I was five and I have grown to love Him with my heart and desire to please Him in all that I do. I grew up in a musical family in which my dad only believed in Southern Gospel music. My family and I sang at many different church events all over Canada as well as parts of the US. I love to sing Southern Gospel music because of the powerful message given about Jesus and His wonderful grace

Story behind the song
I was asked to sing at a ladies' event with the theme "Singing in the Rain" and I thought it would be neat if I could write a song about it. My dad died less than a year before the ladies' event and I knew about trusting God in a time of pain and hardship. I know that God is always good, even if my circumstances hurt sometimes. Therefore, I can always "Sing in the Rain."
Lyrics
There were raindrops falling on my rooftop high As the grey clouds gloomily went rolling by I could feel the wind blow through my windowpane And I knew the sun would never shine again Then a gentle melody eased my mood It was whistling merrily above my room So I looked once more outside my windowpane And I saw a bluebird singing in the rain Chorus: Singing in the rain though the sky was grey Something else had made that happy bluebird's day Oh I wonder how he learned to be that way Just to sing so joyfully out in the rain Well, I thought some more about that bluebird's song He kept singing though the rain came down so long Guess he knew the rain would make the earth to grow So he didn't mind that it kept falling so And I realized that when my heart breaks down And my burdens bring my knees down to the ground I can know the One who made the rain to fall Doesn't make mistakes but He is good to all Chorus: Singing in the rain though the sky is grey He who made it allwill be my hope and stay For He is the reason I am glad today So I'm singing joyfully out in the rain
