Story behind the song
I sing at several biker rallies. While attending one, I surveyed all different types of bikers to see what they all had in common. From the Hell's Angel all the way to the Yuppie Lawyer, they all said that they feel free when they ride. So, I wrote this song for them. I played it at the rally the next year and saw thousands of tiny flames lifted in the air in validation. I guess I must have captured their feelings. This is dedicated to all bikers, everywhere.
Lyrics
I went to a motorcycle rally. I saw a sea of bikes about a mile wide. The campfire burned a smoky light, while tens of thousands gathered thru the night. I could sense a brotherhood for those who love to ride. You are children of the open road. You call the wind your second home. And freedom's what you feel, when you ride your horse of chrome and steel. Of chrome......and steel. One mornin' I went walkin' past rows of vendors sellin' all their wares. The daylight brought me many things. Jeans and leather and eagles wings, and I saw the stories on your faces there. You are children of the open road. You call the wind your second home. And freedom's what you feel when you ride your horse of chrome and steel. Of chrome.....and steel.
