The title song of the album is a mystical one, based on the Four Valleys by Baha'u'llah
Baha'i music from Finland
Star of the North was more a project than a band. The aim was to make an album of original pieces by Finnish Baha'is. This one is the English language version. There is another one in Finnish, ie. Pohjantahti.
Story behind the song
The song had Finnish lyrics by Pekka, but when translated by Harri the more mystical elements from the Four Valleys were added.
Lyrics
All Praise
Music by Pekka Okkonen
Lyrics by Harri Peltola
The Beloved’s call, oh so fair,
A lovely song pervades the air
Bliss and peace
All praise be to Thee
The tune attracts the seeker’s way
To the beauty of this dawning day
Bliss and peace
All praise be to Thee
In tears of joy I cry out my ecstasy
The burning love I feel within
My heart soars high, free of anxiety
In Thy praise I rise to sing
“The story is told of a mystic knower,
Who went on a journey with a learned grammarian as his companion.
They came to the shore of the Sea of Grandeur.
The knower straightway flung himself into the waves,
But the grammarian stood lost in his reasonings,
Which were as words that are written on water.”
(Baha'u'llah, The Four Valleys, p. 51)
Immersed in the ocean of harmony
I meditate and find no words
A unit in the celestial unity
In Thy praise does join all worlds
‘The Beloved’s face is my only book
Not on learned chapters can lovers look’
Bliss and peace
All praise be to Thee
(Paraphrased from Baha'u'llah, The Four Valleys, p. 55)
My self becomes a hollow reed
On pure spirit it will feed
Bliss and peace
All praise be to Thee
“The duty of long years of love obey
And tell the tale of happy days gone by,
That land and sky may laugh aloud today,
And it may gladden mind and heart and eye.”
(Baha'u'llah, The Four Valleys, p. 59)
