Story behind the song
This a sappy song that I wrote to help me recover from a break-up. I was 17 and head over heal for this girl. She was the one that everybody I knew had picked out for me....they always said you and her are perfect for each other and yada yada. So finally I thought I had won this girls heart and (to me) things seemed perfect. We dated for a few months and in those few months - I was on cloud 9. She had promised to me all the dreams that I had hoped for in life - we shared the same future, we even had "a song" and it was amazing. But it came to a crashing halt...when she told me she had been seeing three guys at the same time to see which one she liked the best...and I quote, "You're just not it, sorry?" The door slams...my heart collaped....and that chapter of my life was done so abruptly. The ride home that night was rough - it started to storm - I had a tire blow out - which I fixed in the rain. (all very movie-like I know). But when I look at it now - it's all so laughable. Now that I have found true love, what I was at that time was a joke. But at the time it was the most horrific thing that could happen! Hey, at least a catchy little tune came out of it....right?
Lyrics
Is there a change in your perception? Gone away somewhere Adding up your losses It's broke your heart unaware Turn on the radio To get away from it all You listen to the dedications They're playing your song But you still go on You still go on Let go of promises You still go on You carry on with your life Time passes by All the pain and the memory Baby don't cry You still go on You still go on Let go of promises You still go on
