Story behind the song
This was a different type of song for me. This song is about the feelings that Judas may have felt. I wanted to write it from his prospective. The guilt, the shame, the hurt he was experiencing was so intense that he hung himself. He betrayed the Son of God, and it completely tore him up. But we, as christians, betray the Lord without a second thought, time and time again. I have felt like Judas a few times - but making things right through repentance is the way to go rather than...."the ultimate end".
Lyrics
Come lately - I'm begging for the truth So strangely - I've lost my trust in You Here lately - I think I'm flirting with a lie So anger - my souls about to die I count the cost in all the years we've shared Forget how You loved me so This man, his name is Jesus I sold Him for 30 pieces Come lately - how much is my life worth? Because I betrayed the man that came to save this earth Here lately - they wanna know where You might be You're praying in the garden of Gethseminee I lose my friend and then I blame my greed With silver I hold in my hand This man, his name is Jesus I sold Him for I sold Him for Yeah I see Him hanging on the cross I wonder why He paid the price And died I lose my friend and then I blame my greed With silver I hold in my hand This man, his name is Jesus I sold Him for I sold Him for I sold him for 30 pieces Come lately - I think I have found the Truth
