alternative Country song about Loneliness
neo retro adult comtemporary alt-country folk rock pop............
Story behind the song
One of my early attempts at lyric writing , I sent these words to Lyricist LEX ZALETA almost a year ago and he rewrote them.
Lyrics
HIGH LONESOME SOUND
CAPO on 3 rd fret for all chords
G MAJ 6 C MAJ ADD 9
You stumble into your motel room,
G MAJ 6 C MAJ ADD9
Fall into bed, leave all the lights on,
A MINOR A min 7 D 9
But the lights can’t break the silent gloom.
E MINOR C
The one who used to say good night is gone.
Morning comes, and you’re left to wonder
Just where in the name of love you are?
This strange, hazy feeling you’re under,
How long will it go on, and how far?
Something sofly slips into your ears.
Could be her voice calling you back home.
There it is again, still so unclear.
Could be just the echo of alone.
CHORUS :
C G MAj 6
You know there’s no turning around
GMAJ 6 C
Once you’ve heard that high lonesome sound.
A MIN D 9
Yeah, you’ve got to follow it down,
E MIN C
Follow that high lonesome sound,
EMIN C
That high lonesome sound.
BRIDGE chords
D min 7 C maj 7
A MIN 7 ,C MAJ 7, D 9, A MIN, D
D MIN7 Cmaj 7
A min, Cmaj 7, D 9 , A min, , D, Dsus
You hear one morning dove, one only,
Calling down from a telephone wire.
Have you ever heard a song as lonely,
As sad as this solitary choir?
Now, you hear a steel guitar playing,
Playing on some stolen radio.
Once again, your woman is saying,
“I don’t love you. I’d like you to go.”
Eagles singing, four-part harmony,
The words, the rain, and the whistle ring true.
You’re on the tracks outside the city.
Freight train’s rolling, coming just for you.
You know there’s no turning around
Once you’ve heard that high lonesome sound.
Yeah, you’ve got to follow it down,
Follow that high lonesome sound,
That high lonesome sound.

Nice job on this, David. :) I can tell you've come a long way since this was (re)written. :) Production is good, and your guitar work, as always, is just lovely. :)
