Story behind the song
Tug of war between doin' what we've been taught and know as right, and what feels good or makes us happy at the time. We all know how the meat market works... You walk into the super market and take a stroll down the meat isle looking for something for dinner. You want a tender cut, something tasty you can sink your chops into. Something to satisfy your hungry heart. Mmmmmm, that looks good! Hey baby, wanna dance? Let me loosen you up with a few drinks then maybe later I can talk you into an all night dinner party at my house. Yep...he/she's hungry and wants a free meal on you! Thank God I don't fall for that anymore like I did in my younger naive days. I wrote this song because I felt this age old quest of feel good flesh and pay later with heartbreak needed to be addressed in hopes of saving some sweet innocent soul of falling victim to this never-ending pit fall. Some things never seem to change in the game of greed, lust and heartache! Love should be about respect, not using each other and disregarding the consequences of our actions.
Lyrics
Intro: yodel-o-ooh-ooh/yodel-o-ooh-ee Hey, I don’t mind, if you’d like to buy me a drink But that’s as far as it goes, no matter what you think ‘cause I’m givin’ you the news up front Honey, you don’t stand a chance I’m not sorry, I’m not easy, I just came here to dance Now I know in this day and age, lots of things have changed Lines between the sexes have been blurred and re-arranged But I come from the old school of true love and romance Where no is no, maybe ain’t yes and I just came here to dance Chorus: You can take me for a spin around this ol’ wooden floor Talk til’ you’re blue in the face tryin’ to make a score But be prepared to get turned off if all you want is in my pants I guess you’d best be mossien’ along ‘cause I just came here to dance (yodell-o-ooh-ooh/yodell-o-ooh-ee) I’ll be leavin’ here tonight, the same way I came That’s my GOD givin’ prerogative and I’m proud to say I’m takin’ a stand by sittin’ it out, I hope you understand Honey, I’m not goin’ home with you, I just came here to dance Repeat chorus Tag: Yeah! I guess you’d best be mossien’ along ‘cause I just came here to dance… ( yodel-o-ooh-ooh/yodel-o-ooh-ee) ( yodel-o-ooh-ooh/yodel-o-ooh-ee)...Ah-Ha!
