songs from a twin cities basement
I'm Eric Kalenze, and Gawker Slowdown is the name I've given my little musical hobby. While I'm currently in a state of semi-retirement from music, I still write and play out occasionally. All songs on this site were written, performed, and recorded by me in my Twin Cities basement.

Lyrics
what happens when all the trees in your forest refuse to fall down? sturdy branches enjoying the breeze don't make all that interesting a sound what will you do with all those melodies now that all your demons are safely in the ground? put them with your one-time remedies the ones you visit when there's no one around guess it's between saying nothing and saying nothing at all it's not like anyone's watching go on, say it loud--you're having a ball all the titles you'll never take and all those people you were scared you'd never be those ideas used to keep you awake now they only bring you relief guess you could always just tell stories about imaginary losers you're glad you're not the kind of thing you've always just done without but right now it might be all you've got guess it's between saying nothing and saying nothing at all it's not like anyone's watching go on, say it loud--you're having a ball
