Story behind the song
This song is from Senseless Budd's 20th Anniversary Winter Solstice Jam. Both voices and guitar were run through just one single microphone and recorded onto one channel of a Teac reel-to-reel. Hence no mixing was done other than the overall level to a mixdown tape which I made in the winter of 1985-’86. Unfortunately that was the only surviving copy of this event(surviving more than the ravages of 2 decades; having been aboard my boat when it went the way of Atlantis and was unwillingly submerged for a few hours!) The source tape seems to have mysteriously gotten separated from the rest of the herd and was nowhere to be found! (I would gladly trade my whole “library” of reel-to-reel tapes for that one gem!! I consider it Senseless Budd’s finest jam!) My primitive equipment of the time didn’t even allow me to mix it to stereo channels on the mix! So this last winter when I conceived the idea of a 20th anniversary edition, I ran the tape I had through a stereo reverb to simulate stereo & a compressor to clean it up some & now here you have it; a little worse for wear but still fun as all get-out!!! Let it commandeer your stereo for a number of listens and ENJOY !
